Cabbage poriyal or Muttaikose poriyal is a south Indian vegΒ stir fryΒ recipe prepared in a few minutes. It is a great side dish for rice. Cabbage stir fry is prepared using cabbage and coconut with a simple seasoning of mustard seeds and curry leaves. Every south Indian lunch recipe especially Tamilnadu contains a poriyal as aΒ side dish for rice. Ingredients
  

  • 2 cup Cabbage (chopped)
  • Salt (as needed)
  • 2 Green chilly (chopped)
  • ΒΌ tsp Turmeric powder
  • ΒΌ cup Small onion (chopped)
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • ΒΌ tsp Mustard seeds
  • Curry leaves (few)
  • 2 tsp Urad dhal
  • 2 tbsp water

To grind

  • Β½ cup Coconut
  • Β½ tsp Jeera

Instructions

  • In a mixer, add coconut, jeera coarsely grind it and keep it aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, urad dhal and curry leaves.
  • Add chopped small onions saute it until it turns golden brown.
  • Add chopped green chilly and saute well.
  • Add cabbage saute for few minutes on low flame.
  • Add salt, turmeric powder sautes well.
  • Add 2 tbsp of water and cover and cook for a few minutes.
  • Dry well without water.
  • Add grinded coconut stir well.
  • Very tasty and easy cabbage poriyal is ready to serve with rice.
