What is Parippu Curry
Parippu Curry is an Onam sadya curry recipe that is famous in Kerala. It is prepared using moong dhal and coconut. Parippu curry is aΒ side dish for rice. Parippu curry / dhal curry is prepared using yellow moong dhal or yellow lentils. It is a quick and easy curry with less ingredients. First cookΒ moong dhalΒ and add some coconut paste with spices like jeera. Finally add seasoning to this dhal curry with mustard seeds, curry leaves and red chilly. Parippu Curry Recipe | Dhal Curry | Moong dal Curry
Cookery ParkIngredients
For cooking dal
- 1 cup Moong dal
- 5 Small onion
- 5 pods Garlic
- Β½ tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt (As needed)
- 2 cup Water
For grinding
- ΒΎ cup Coconut
- Β½ tsp Jeera
- 1 Green chilly
- Water (as needed)
For tempering
- 1 tsp Oil
- ΒΌ tsp Mustard seeds
- Curry leaves (Few)
- 1 Red chilly
Instructions
- In a pan, add 1 cup of moong dal and dry roast well.
- Wash the roasted moong dal well.
- In a pressure cooker, add moong dal, small onion, garlic, turmeric powder, salt and water.
- Cook this for 2 to 3 whistles.
- In a mixer, add coconut, jeera, green chilly and water grind it coarsely.
- Add grinded paste and enough water into dal and mix well.
- Cook this for a few minutes and this curry should be thick gravy consistency. Once cooked well, remove from flame and keep aside.
- In a pan, add oil, mustard seeds, red chilly and curry leaves saute well.
- Add this tempering into paruppu curry and mix well.
- Paruppu curry is ready to serve with rice.

Note
