Storing guacamole properly is important to maintain its freshness and prevent browning. Always prepare guacamole freshly and consumed it as soon as possible. These storage tips help you to store leftover guacamole without losing freshness and flavor. Here we will see how to store guacamole properly.

Transfer to an airtight container: Take the guacamole and add it to a clean airtight container.

Smooth the surface: Take a spoon and smooth the surface of the guacamole using the back of the spoon. It can remove any air pockets in it.

Cover with plastic wrap: Sometimes guacamole turns brown in color. So place plastic wrap directly on top of the guacamole. This will prevent browning and always it is fresh and green.

Tightly close the container: Use a container with a tight lid. Always close the lid tightly. It helps maintain the freshness and flavors of the guacamole.

Refrigerate immediately: Always keep the container in the refrigerator immediately after preparing guacamole. Cold temperatures slow down the oxidation process and help preserve the guacamole.

Consume within a few days: Don’t store it for so many days. Always eat guacamole within 2 to 3 days. So it does not last its freshness and flavor.

Guacamole Ingredients

Avocados: Use ripe avocados. It gives a creamy base for guacamole and a smooth texture to the dip.

Red onion: Red onions give bright color and a slightly tangy flavor to the guacamole. It gives a crunch and enhances the overall taste.

Jalapeno pepper: Jalapeno pepper gives heat and spice to the guacamole. Removing the seeds helps decrease the spice level. Adjust the quantity as per the spiciness.

Garlic: Garlic gives a flavor and aroma to the guacamole.

Tomato: Tomatoes give juiciness and a mildly tangy flavor to the guacamole. It also gives freshness and bright color to guacamole.

Lemon: Lemon juice gives an acidic taste and tanginess to the guacamole. It enhances the flavor and also helps prevent the browning of avocados.

Coriander leaves: Coriander leaves are also known as Cilantro. It gives a refreshing aroma to the guacamole. It gives green color and freshness to the dip.

Cumin powder: Cumin powder gives a warm and earthy flavor to the guacamole.

Salt and pepper: Salt and pepper are important ingredients for seasoning guacamole. They enhance the flavors of all the ingredients and help balance the taste.

How to make Guacamole recipe

Step 1: Cut avocados

First, select a ripened avocado and wash it well. Then hold the avocado with one hand and cut lengthwise until you feel the pit. Continuously cut all sides and make it into two halves. Hold each half of the avocado and twist them in opposite directions. It will separate into two halves. Then remove the pit slowly.  Take one avocado piece and cut the flesh lengthwise and crosswise. Don’t cut the skin, cut only the flesh. Take a spoon and scoop the flesh. Likewise, scoop flesh from two pieces of avocado. and add it to a mixing bowl.

Step 2: Mash avocados

Mash 3 avocados with a fork until it turns creamy consistency. If you like small chunks, mash them into small chunks. If you like smooth textures, mash them into a smooth paste.

Step 3: Prepare vegetables

For preparing veggies, finely chopped 1 small red onion, 1 large tomato, 1 jalapeno pepper and 2 garlic cloves. Keep them aside. To reduce the spiciness remove the seeds of the jalapeno pepper.

Step 4: Squeeze lemon juice

Cut the lemon into half and squeeze the juice. Add the juice of two lemons to the mashed avocado. Lemon juice gives a tangy flavor and also helps prevent the browning of the avocados.

Step 5: Add chopped vegetables

Add finely chopped red onion, tomato, jalapeno pepper and minced garlic to mashed avocado. These ingredients give texture, flavor and color to the guacamole.

Step 6: Add coriander leaves and cumin powder

Finely chop 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves and add to all ingredients. Also, add 1/2 tsp cumin powder to them.

Step 7: Add salt and pepper

Finally, add salt and pepper to it as per your taste. Adjust the quantity of salt and pepper as needed.

Step 8: Mix well

Mix all ingredients together using a spoon until they combined well.

Step 9: Serve and enjoy

Serve guacamole immediately with tortilla chips and also as a delicious topping for tacos, burritos or grilled meats.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 Ripeavocados

  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)

  • Juice of 2 Lemon

Instructions

  • Cut avocados into half lengthwise pieces, remove the pits and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl.
  • Mash avocado with a fork until it turns creamy consistency. If you like small chunks, mash them into small chunks.
  • Add finely chopped red onion, tomato, jalapeno pepper and minced garlic to mashed avocado.
  • Add the juice of two lemons to it.
  • Add chopped fresh coriander leaves and cumin powder into the avocado.
  • Finally add salt and pepper as needed.
  • Mix all ingredients together until they combined well.
